About The Tabletop Society

The Tabletop Society creates experiences built around board games, roleplaying, creativity and one simple idea: people connect better when there is something on the table worth gathering around.

Our Story

Family-owned and operated by two passionate gamers who fell in love.

Jason and AnnMarie crossed paths in 2020 and instantly connected over their mutual love for games, whether digital or tabletop. As we merged our families, we prioritized teaching our children vital life lessons: showing kindness, putting in hard work, and remaining humble, especially when winning against siblings in Mario Kart (we're still working on that lesson!).

When our son received his diagnosis of Autism and ADHD, we shifted our attention from screens to tabletop gaming. Through board games and role-playing adventures, he developed valuable problem-solving and communication skills. Both of our kids thrived in imaginative storytelling, and “D&D&D” (Dinner & Dungeons & Dragons) quickly became a cherished tradition in our household.

The Tabletop Society emerged in 2025 from a lifelong passion for games and storytelling and a newfound understanding of the social-emotional growth they can inspire.

Our Mission

Make tabletop experiences accessible, welcoming, and meaningful.

Our goal is to share the magic and learning from our RPG and tabletop experiences at parties and events, fostering fun and adventure throughout Long Island. By doing so, we aim to enrich and enhance our community, creating a space where people can connect, learn, and grow together through the joy of gaming.

What We Believe

Everyone deserves a seat at the table.

It is our goal to make sure all gamers feel welcome and represented, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, or physical/mental ability. We believe that an inclusive and diverse environment is essential in building a strong community, and that we should strive to be the best possible examples for the next generation. With this in mind, we welcome any suggestions and feedback that will help us achieve this goal--especially game recommendations!

No Experience Required

Never rolled a d20? Think Catan is a country? Perfect. You shouldn’t need to know the rules before you feel like you belong at the table.

Play Is Powerful

Games get us talking, cooperating, problem-solving and trying again when things don’t go according to plan. All while being too busy having fun to notice we’re learning something.

There's A Game For Everyone

Some people want strategy. Some want storytelling. Some want to betray their family over a sheep. Finding the kind of play that makes you light up is part of the fun.

It’s About Who’s at the Table

We love games...a lot. But the cardboard, dice and tiny wooden meeples are really just an excuse to bring people together. The people you meet, the friendships you make and the memories you take home are what matter most.

Who We Work With

Different groups. Different needs. Same goal.

Whether we’re filling a brewery with board games, celebrating a birthday with a D&D quest or building a program for your library, we adapt what we do to the people around the table.

Individuals & Families

Come to an event, bring the whole family or invite us to your next celebration. We make it easy to try something new without needing to be the resident rules expert.

Libraries & Schools

Give us an age group, a room and a goal. We’ll bring the games, creativity and organized chaos needed to turn it into a program people actually want to attend.

Community Organizations

Scouts, nonprofits, senior communities, fundraisers and local groups all deserve something more interesting than just another meeting. We’ll help you get people playing, creating and connecting.

Local Venues

Give people another reason to walk through your doors—and a reason to stick around. We partner with breweries, cafés and other local spaces to create events that turn customers into a community.

Behind the Table

Meet The Tabletop Society

Different careers, same recurring theme: figure out how things work, make people feel welcome and give them a reason to come together. Add a shared love of games, a family full of nerds and an increasingly unreasonable board game collection, and The Tabletop Society starts to make a lot more sense.

AnnMarie Ballew

AnnMarie started in Human Resources, recruiting and onboarding employees and, most importantly, planning the holiday parties. She later became a Senior Scientific Administrator at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, supporting cancer and neuroscience research labs. Even there, she found herself organizing board game lunches and after-work game nights for her lab members.

Jason from The Tabletop Society
Jason Bullara

Before The Tabletop Society, Jason built a career in accounting, software development and eventually running his own technology company. He’s spent years taking complicated systems apart, figuring out how they work and making them easier for other people to use. These days, that skill comes in handy when someone opens a board game with a 32-page rulebook—or sits down at his D&D table for the first time.
